Donor Remembrance

As family and loved ones of a member of our body donor program, Washington University School of Medicine Medical Class of 2022 invites you to our

Annual Donor Remembrance

Each May, the first year medical students host a Donor Appreciation Remembrance for family members of anatomical donors. This is a chance for the relatives to have closure for the loss of their loved ones and provides families with the opportunity to meet the medical students, faculty and staff.

Some students speak about their experience working with the donors. They talk about their deep appreciation for what some students describe as ‘their first patient’ and refer to the donors as their ‘greatest teacher’. The memorial service gives students the opportunity to thank the families of the donors while at the same time learning more about their life and who they were.

The memorial service is intended to instill in students an appreciation of the humanity of the donors and gives them an opportunity to offer thanks.

The Donor Appreciation Remembrance for next year is scheduled for May 12, 2020

More information will be provided as the service nears.
