Memorial Grove

Recognition of Donors

All donor tissue is cremated once teaching has been completed. Cremated remains are scattered at Washington University’s Tyson Research Center near Eureka, Missouri. In remembrance of those who have participated in the program, the university has established a Memorial Grove at Tyson where family and friends may gather for reflection and closure.

At Memorial Grove, a mural of trees commemorates the participants in the donor program. Bronze leaves are secured to the mural at the request of donor families.

While there is no public memorial service offered by the university, family members of program participants may plan their own private memorial service, if desired. For more information regarding access to the Memorial Grove for friends and family of program participants, please contact the program office at 1-855-502-7894.

Students who benefit from donations to the School of Medicine give special recognition to donor families privately.

Memorial Leaf Purchase

Note: Memorial Grove will be undergoing repairs and upgrades to the Memorial Wall and pathways. Because of these upgrades and repairs, leaf installations will be halted until the summer of 2020. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. Those purchasing leaves will be notified by the Gift of Body Donor Program upon the installation of your leaf.
